Looking for advice in San Jose

I am a face painter in San Jose, and I have NOOOO idea where to start. This site is great, but I'd like to actually talk to some buskers from my area who know the drill. I don't know the legal situation in my city or where to obtain a permit, etc... I could also just use some advice in general on starting out. Please contact me if you have any info, words of encouragement, etc....
