A few months have been and gone since last entering this forum, and by now actually 2004 has been promoted! Is now known the world over as 2005. How's that for fame, eh? Right, I'll attempt to cut the crap for a few minutes. As it happens, last year I had forgotten what well can be a basic rule for streetwork in Spain: In the summertime, DO NOT leave the mediterranean (or atlantic) coast. Doing the inland is okay roughly nine months out of every twelve (excepting exceptions) but between june and, say, the beginning of september it's rather not very smart to try it. Unless of course you hit the city or village fiestas which flare up all over the peninsula like bonfires. At least 80% of all the townwide parties occur in the summer, mostly on or around a catholic saint's nameday. I reckon the permit business won't be much of a problem as the police will most likely have their hands full trying to keep the locals under some kind of control. But unless you have a van or a (watertight) sleeping bag, accomodation can be.
By the way, as it happened on the last leg of my Spanish tour (which was the reverse of the third) Zaragoza went very well. Was there during the second half of september. Oh, and in Lérida it turned out a permit to perform is required, but won't be given.
Tour in a nutshell: Murcia, Alicante, Gandia, Castellon, Barcelona, Terrassa, Manresa, Reus, Zaragoza, Huesca, Pamplona, Lizarra, Logronyo, Miranda de Ebro, Haro, Vitoria and about face until Barcelona again passing through Logronyo, Zaragoza and Lérida. After that: Balaguer, La Seu d'Urgell, Sant Celoni, Girona and Figueres. Left Spain around the 15th of november 2004.
