News from SF:Pier 41 is closed for street performing

I decided to escape the heat and humidity of the East Coast and made it to San Fran - to discover that Pier 41, which was the best pitch on the Wharf, is closed for street performers. Now everybody is really on top of each other on the little island in the middle of the street - the steel-drums, the Peruvians, the drag-queens, silver-men,guy with dalmations - all of them...Punks are gone. And the traffic is really bad in comparison with 2000, when I was here last time.Cops closed me on the third day there, though I had a letter from Arts Council, stating that face-painters do not need an artist permit and can set up anywhere on the public property...So I'm doing festivals in Bay Area...If anybody can suggest a good festival, which allows street artists or performers - let me know.

    Peace-Luv. Irina, face-painter
